1 2 3, kick, jig step, spin the lady

Day 9- big group night out!

B.Love took us to the Pepper Pot for class in the morning (always better to have class in a cafe :) ) and then we shopped a bit and hung out in city centre.

in the evening, we all got (sort of) dressed up and headed to dinner near the coast at Valparaiso.

meals paid for by the program? you know we all got the steak!

(with mash and leeks - soo good)

after dinner we walked around the neighborhood a bit and took pictures by the water.

it was Gorgeous...

(i like being by the water)

this little neighborhood by the coast (Monkstown) was adorable.

<- i know you're thinking "how did you get to Spain so fast?" but this is actually still in county Dublin, silly

we eventually made it to the Irish culture center for traditional Irish dancing.

we had an absolute blast.

we went down into the basement of that big yellow house where
there was a live, traditional Irish band, a bar, a tea
room and a dance floor.

it was our group and a hilarious group of Irish people there for a wedding party - let me tell you, these Irish boys take the word "spin" seriously lol

<- me, Hillary, Tracie, Krysten and Ana before the dancing began (notice that we aren't sweaty yet)

the class was taught by this tiny old Irish woman, Kathy, who turned into a drill sergeant once she had a microphone in her hand.

for each dance, she would have ppl demonstrate as she would walk us through the steps, then have everyone get up and walk through it, then we'd dance it.

B.Love and his wife (who joined us for the day's festivities) were the first 'volunteers' ^(in red and purple)

<- list of dances that we learned

we danced for about 20 or 30 minutes, then took a 'tea & coffee' break. the wedding party had sandwiches and deserts (which were amazing) and they shared their food and their stories with us.

more dancing (and drinking) followed.

at one point, Kathy was demonstrating a move and i copied what she did. she stopped and turned to me and said "you've done Irish dancing before?" I said no, obviously. she called me a liar and teased me about it the rest of the night. must be my Irish blood haha

Tracie and I with Kathy -->

all of the people there were so nice and so happy to have us. it was a really great day.
love Dublin.
