"academically speaking..."

i'm getting more and more busy, but i am doing my best to stay on top of this!

Day 7
- we had our usual class at 10am, Hillary and i did laundry (which costs 4 euro to wash and dry!) then we all got ready for our visit to the Health Service Executive (HSE), the government agency that we are going to be working for.

some of the reps from the agency presented their specific goals for this summer, as well as giving us background information about what they have already put together for this project.

as i've said, we're working on their cervical cancer initiative. in general, we're going to be doing tons of research and put together a recommendation on the best channels, messages and targets for communicating the distribution of the HPV vaccine.
all of the people at the HSE were extremely welcoming. it's going to be a lot of work, but i'm really excited to work on this project.

Anyway, after the meeting we went back to the city centre for dinner. Cindy, Hillary, Kelsey and i grabbed some cheap Chinese take away and ate in a plaza. the food wasn't the greatest and we had to walk by Temple Bar area anyway so we stopped for a pint :)

have i talked about Bulmers yet? it's an Irish cider that has a bit of a champagne taste. because of business deals that occurred in 1949, the international trade mark is owned by a former business partner, preventing the Irish company from exporting the brand from Ireland.

(they also make a cider with the Magners label, which is technically the same thing and can be bought outside Ireland)

anyway, after the pint we went back to UCD campus and checked out the "student activities center" - which is really just a pub with some pool tables in it (one of 3 pubs on campus). term is over and they don't really do summer school here, so it was pretty dead but we enjoyed the music videos that were blaring.

p.s. the Bieber fever here is BAD.

other than that, i did a bunch of school work and skyped a bit before bed.
